As we look at the December holidays in our rear view mirror and look ahead to the New Year 2016, we're just taking a moment today to acknowledge all the wonderful vendors at The Boston Public Market  (find a list of them all here https://bostonpublicmarket.org/ ) who make our daily work days at The KITCHEN so amazing and fabulous! From salad greens to hand crafted bowls, honey, fresh farm fruits & veggies, donuts, meat, fish, cheese, wine, beer and more...not forgetting of course all the wonderful prepared foods we enjoy for our breakfast, lunch and dinner.

From The Trustees of Reservations http://www.thetrustees.org/ and The KITCHEN staff we thank you!

We look forward to working with you in the New Year in The KITCHEN with programming highlighting and, most importantly, celebrating your fabulous bounty!

And a special thanks to all the vendors who participated in The KITCHEN's first annual Boston Public Market vendor wreath decorating contest. It was hard to choose a winner as you can see from all the festive photos, but the Grand Prize, which includes bragging rights and the much sought after Trustees Alba the (plush) Owl, went to Corner Stalk Farm for their living wreath of salad greens (center photo).  Congrats Corner Stalk!

This Friday December 18th at noon in the KITCHEN as part of our Let's Talk About Food Brown Bag Lunch Series...

Combat Ready Kitchen

Energy bars, Cheetos, juice pouches, supermarket bread -- Americans eat more processed foods than anyone else in the world. We also  spend more on  military research. These  two seemingly unrelated facts are inextricably linked. What is the effect of such a diet, eaten as it is by soldiers, and most consumers, day in, day out, year after year? We really don't know.

Join us for an eye-opening conversation and unpack a bag of groceries with food writer
Anastacia Marx de Salcedo, author of Combat-ReadyKitchen: How the U.S. Military Shapes the Way You Eat examining The long relationship between the processed food industry and the military and their influence on the American food industry and diet. This session will be filmed and broadcast at a later date by CSPAN2 Book TV.

Free admission...don't forget to bring your lunch!

Gingerbread Party, All Are Invited!

Join us this Sunday, December 20th in THE KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market for a Gingerbread Decorating Party from 12-2pm. All ages are welcome!

We'll have gingerbread cookies for the young 'uns and assembled mini houses for the older kids with lots of candy and icing to decorate them with. And, if you're up to the challenge, you can assemble your own mini house before you decorate it. KITCHEN Chef Lee Miller will be on hand to help you, but we recommend if you're going to build your own, bring an extra pair of hands (note this is a "handy" kitchen hack on gingerbread house structure basics).

Chef Lee assembled a special gingerbread house for the Boston Public Market last week. You can see it on display at the BPM welcome table just inside the entrance on the corner of Hanover & Congress, be sure to check it out!

The KITCHEN is a teaching kitchen programmed by The Trustees of Reservations http://www.thetrustees.org/about-us/our-mission/ and is located inside the Boston Public Market. Come visit us! We can be accessed through the Market or by the entrance at the corner of Congress & New Chardon.
